Help Make the Fourth of July Parade and Festival a Success!

Tuesday, June 19, 2012

Many volunteers are needed to help with children and family activities, parade line-up, barricade watching, and for set-up and tear down throughout the day on July 4.

Most volunteer assignments are in prime locations along the parade route and a great way to celebrate Independence Day with family or friends. All volunteers will receive a FREE lunch and T-shirt! Anyone interested in volunteering may contact Mary Sue Derks, Volunteer Coordinator, at amesparade.2012@yahoo.com.

Approximately 75 to 100 volunteers are needed to fill multiple shifts from 8:00 am. to 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 4.

Thank you to the generosity of the 2012 Fourth of July Parade and Festival sponsors: Presenting Sponsor - Ames Silversmithing; Kid’s Activities Sponsor - Duck Worth Wearing, Parade Sponsors - Alpha Copies, Café Diem, First National Bank; Bill Riley Talent Search Sponsor - American Country Home Stores; Red, White & Blue Sponsors - Ames Pet Resort, Gene Johnson, Realtor - Hunziker & Associates, Realtors. The Fourth of July Parade and Festival is also supported by the Ames Community Grant Program and the City of Ames.

About Us:
The Main Street Cultural District (MSCD) in Ames was established on January 1, 2004. It is the result of a two-year local initiative to create a unique identity and focus for downtown. The presence of key cultural institutions in the Main Street area - along with unique, locally owned businesses - made this move a logical development. The MSCD mission is to advance and promote downtown as the destination district in the heart of the Ames community. The concept has been strongly embraced by numerous community businesses, organizations, and individual residents. MSCD is an investor-based organization, open to anyone in the community that would like to support its development and enjoy its benefits.
