Ames Parks & Rec Will Host Local Hershey's Youth Track and Field Meet

On Wednesday, May 23, the Ames Parks and Recreation Department will host the local running of the Hershey’s Youth Track and Field Meet at Ames High School (1921 Ames High Drive). The meet will begin at 6:00 PM and run until approximately 8:00 PM and is open to all boys and girls ages 9 - 14 (age as of December 31, 2012). Events will include the 50, 100, 200, and 400 meter dashes along with an 800 and 1600 meter run and a 4x100 meter relay. Field events include a standing long jump and softball throw. The first place finisher in each event will qualify for the State meet to be held in Marshalltown on Saturday, June 16, 2012.

Registration deadline is May 21 and forms can be downloaded from www.amesparksrec.org, or picked up at Ames Parks and Recreation Community Center, 5th and Clark. For more information, contact the Ames Parks and Recreation Department at 239-5352.
