University Museums on the Iowa State campus is hosting the 2nd annual Brunnier in Bloom, March 26- 28, 2010 at the Brunnier Art Museum, 295 Scheman Building, Iowa State Center, Ames, Iowa.
Last year’s Brunnier in Bloom 3-day event drew over 550 attendees, marking the start of a unique celebration weekend in which floral arrangements are paired with art on exhibition at the Brunnier Art Museum. The event will run Saturday, March 27 and Sunday, March 28 from 1:00 pm to 4:00pm each day.
The public is encouraged to attend and cast a vote for their favorite arrangement in the People’s Choice award category. The winner for People’s Choice will be announced on Sunday, March 28. There will also be a “Best in Show” and two “Honorable Mentions” awarded on Friday night which will be judged by local judges Dr. John Cunnally, associate professor of Art and Design and Ames Mayor Ann Campbell.
This year’s event will also include a silent auction and raffle. On Friday night, attendees can bid on some of the floral arrangements. If the bidder wins, they can take the arrangement home at the conclusion of the event on Sunday at 4:00 pm. On opening night, there will also be a raffle for donated prizes. Raffle tickets are $1 each or 7 for $5. Raffle prizes have been generously donated by Jo Myers-Walker at the Left Bank Studio in Gilbert, Ames Silversmithing, Sigler Companies, Grandma’s Attic, Chocolaterie Stam, and Party Time Rentals.
