Second Annual Snowshoe and Trail Run at McFarland Park on February 20th
Tuesday, February 02, 2010
Join Story County Conservation (SCC), as they host their second annual Snowshoe Race and/or Trail Run on Saturday, February 20, beginning at 10:00 a.m. The four-mile race will be on McFarland trails through prairie, woodland, and along the Skunk River. The registration fee is $25 if postmarked by February 12, and $30 postmarked February 13 up until the day of the race. Only those who register prior to February 13 will be guaranteed a race T-shirt. A limited number of Kahtoola snowshoes and traction devices will be available that day on a first come, first served basis.

Be prepared for some hills as you venture out on the scenic trails of Story County! The run will have two categories: snowshoe and running shoes/trail shoes (with or without traction devices such as MICROspikes™.) If there’s no snow, you can change your mind that day! Awards will be at 11:30 a.m. with a hot lunch for all participants. Age brackets are 19 and under; 20-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; and 60 and older. There will be prizes for the overall male and female finishers in each category, awards for top finishers in each age bracket, and door prizes. Proceeds will benefit Story County’s trail projects. You can register online at www.allsportcentral.com and information and registration forms are available at www.storycountyconservation.org.

Would you like to volunteer for this event? Help is needed "outside" with race marshalling and hydration stations, as well as "inside" with registration and serving lunch.
