Membership Has Its Benefits

Monthly E-newsletter and Weekly Updates

The monthly e-newsletter includes “members only” information on upcoming conferences and events, marketing opportunities, membership updates and other newsworthy information.

Weekly updates include printable welcome posters and updated marketing information.

Participation on Committees

Members have the opportunity to participate on various committees from destination marketing to event planning.

Annual Meeting

This annual event provides networking opportunities for members and an opportunity to learn more about the travel industry. (minimal cost applies)

Ames Community Grant Program

The Grant program supports a wide range of local projects funded by 5% of the hotel/motel tax income of the Bureau. Awards are granted annually on the basis of merit as determined by the Grant Committee and administered by the Bureau. All grant recipients must become a member of the Bureau.

Listing & Directional Map to Your Location on the Bureau Web Site

Free Listing in Annual Ames Area Visitors Guide

30,000 copies are distributed annually to visitors through direct mail requests, local information displays in hotels and community venues, meeting planners, conference registrations and Iowa Welcome Centers.

Individual events often have opportunities for various ads and awareness

Referral of Business/Service to Convention and Visitor Requests

When contacted by a meeting planner, visitor, event manager or during an onsite visit from an event coordinator, your services will be either used or recommended when appropriate.

Presence at Various National, State, and Local Tradeshows

The Bureau staff exhibit at a variety of tradeshows each year including athletic events, meeting planners, and international group tours.

Ames Area Display Opportunities

Opportunities arise throughout the year to have your individual business or service information displayed as part of an Bureau exhibit. (ie: ISU Orientation, Travel Iowa Marketplace, Iowa Tourism Conference, Odyssey of the Mind, Special Olympics Iowa, Iowa Games and other individual events)

Bureau Event Calendar/Press Releases

Those participating in Bureau initiatives have access and opportunity to list events on the event calendar which is available in printed form and on the www.visitames.com Web site. Press releases and event information are changed weekly on the Bureau Web site and press releases are sent to the media to help promote events and conferences.

> Additional Services

Many of the services offered by the Bureau are designed for groups and visitors to Ames but are also available to members of the Bureau for visitors or special events they may host or be involved with.

Dine Around Dollars

As a restaurant you have the opportunity to accept pre-printed dollars given to group attendees to encourage dining around the Ames area as part of their event. Paid at full face value by the Bureau.

Ames Welcome Bags

Bureau welcome bags are great for distributing registration or promotional materials to each registered delegate or guest coming to Ames.

Bureau Ambassadors

Experienced mature staff can be provided to offer friendly and professional assistance for registration, at information areas, as hotel greeters or as personal guides to the Ames area.

VIP Welcome Baskets

Welcome baskets for your key VIPs, speakers or special guests are available through the Bureau at a minimal cost.

Hotel & Meeting Space Availability

During times of heavy demand for overnight rooms in Ames (during a major conference, ISU graduation, or athletic weekend) the Bureau keeps in touch with hotels on their ever changing availability. Even if you need just one room for a family member, give us a call and we will help you locate the closest room available in or near Ames.
